What is the difference between partial and full highlights?
Full highlights create brightness throughout the entire head and are often recommended for clients looking for a significant blonde transformation. Partial highlights focus on the top, sides, and face-framing areas to maintain brightness while requiring less maintenance.
For many first-time highlight clients, we often recommend starting with a Full Highlight appointment. This allows us to create a strong foundation and achieve your desired level of brightness. Future appointments can often be maintained with Partial Highlights or a Face-Frame service, depending on your goals.
How often do highlights need maintenance?
Most clients maintain their highlights every 8–12 weeks, although timing varies based on your desired level of brightness and how polished you like your color to look.
Some clients return for Full Highlights once or twice a year and maintain their look in between with Partial Highlights, Face-Frame Highlights, or Gloss appointments.
Do highlights include toner?
Yes. Toning or glossing is included with most highlight services at OxA Salon. Toners help refine the final shade, add shine, neutralize unwanted warmth, and create the customized blonde tone you’re looking for.
Should I book a haircut or blow-dry with my highlight service?
We highly recommend adding a haircut or trim to complete your service. Freshly trimmed ends help showcase your new color and keep the hair looking healthy and polished.
If you prefer not to cut your hair, we still recommend finishing with a professional blowout so you can fully enjoy and see your new color. Many clients love leaving with their hair styled and camera-ready for several days afterward.
When should I book a consultation first?
We recommend booking a complimentary consultation if:
• You are new to highlights.
• You have previous color, box dye, or corrective color history.
• You are unsure which highlight service to choose.
• You are looking for a major blonde transformation.
A consultation allows us to evaluate your hair history, discuss your goals, and create a customized plan before your appointment.
Do you use bleach for all highlights?
Not always. While many highlight services are created using professional lightener, we also offer No-Bleach Highlights using high-lift color when appropriate.
This technique can create beautiful brightness while maintaining a softer approach to lightening. During your consultation, we’ll determine whether traditional highlights or a no-bleach approach is best suited for your hair.
What products do you use for highlights?
